Much more fish activity showing now at Harlaw, and some great captures. Here are members John Balfour (above) and Ronnie Robinson (below) showing off some fantastic trout. Ronnie took his 7lb 8oz fish on a Viva based rabbit zonker in black and green with a gold bead. John's fish fell to a buzzer. Thanks to Boss Bailiff Jim McComb for the details and pictures.

Due to continued low water levels, Threipmuir and much of the top end of Harlaw are unfishable. To compensate for the limited fishing opportunities we've reduced our permit price to £20. This offer will stand from now until the end of the season. The same four fish limit catch and release thereafter rule, still applies.

Please take extra care on the banks, the ground is very soft in places and there is still very deep water very close to the bank.

Here's Malleny AA club secretary, Alan Holbrook, almost breaking into a full blow grin after catching this beautiful rainbow trout from just off the end of the Harlaw dam wall. Alan was fishing a floating line, the fish taking a perl back diawl bach. The fish was 9 to 10lb and made a great account of itself before being safely returned. Thanks to Scotty Abbott for the picture.

Day permits are available for the reservoirs at £25. This covers fishing from 8am to an hour after dusk (latest 11pm) - stay all day or fish a 'split shift'. You can catch and release all the fish you like on barbless hooks and take up to four home.

Day permit regular Bryan Laidlaw landed this great big rainbow at Harlaw last weekend. Bryan says not much was rising, but there were plenty of caddis flies about so he put on a Sedgehog and twitched it across the surface. The fish made a couple of strong runs before being netted by Bailiff David Bertram. Bryan also had 4 other fish of the more typical 2.5lb to 3lb size. All fish were returned.

Jason Coles from Livingston landed the fantastic Rainbow at Harlaw last week. Reportedly 10lb+, but no further details at the moment.
