COVID-19 Coronavirus - Closed for Permit Sales:

Purchase of Day Permits is suspended until the government restrictions are lifted or until notified by Malleny Angling Ltd. It is unlawful to fish without a valid permit. Water bailiffs regularly patrol the reservoirs.

Also available : Season Permits £195.

Day permits are available for £20. This covers fly fishing from the bank only from 8am to 11pm or 1 hour after dusk (whichever is the earliest). You may take three fish. After that you can continue to fish catch and release with barbless or debarbed hooks. See the Venue Information page for fishing areas.

We also offer a full day catch and release permit, this costs £15.

During the months of May, June, July and August we are offering an evening permit for £15 (2 fish limit) and a catch and release evening permit for just £10. These are valid from 5pm to 11pm or 1 hour after dusk (whichever is the earliest).

In summary:

  • Full day - 3 fish limit - £20
  • Full day - catch and release - £15
  • Evening - 2 fish limit - £15
  • Evening - catch and release - £10

You must present your permit to the duty bailiff prior to fishing. If the bailiff is unavailable please fish on the Harlaw dam wall until they return. The bailiff carries a mobile phone and the number will be posted on the bothy.

You may be challenged to present your permit at any point during your visit. Due to the open public nature of the reservoirs this may happen several times during your visit.

Under 16's can fish for free, and share the catch limit with a paying adult. Only one under 16 per paying adult. You must complete a disclaimer if you intend to fish with an under 16.

Please inform the duty bailiff on leaving the water and hand in your completed catch return (on your permit or collect from the duty bailiff). All completed permits go into a monthly draw to win a free permit!

Please complete your catch return by contacting the club secretary. Completing a catch return is a compulsory requirement of fishing.

At the Reservoirs

Access our waters from the Harlaw Car Park, see Venue Information. A Bailiff will usually be on site from 8am. The Bailiff's Bothy is the green cabin on Harlaw dam wall, just behind the visitor's centre.

The bailiff on duty is able to sell you a permit, but as their duties may take them away from the bothy, avoid delays or disappointment by buying in advance. You must present your permit to the duty bailiff before fishing.

Please see our Data Protection policy.
