Closed Season! Harlaw and Threipmuir are now closed, no fishing is allowed on either reservoir. We open again on the 1st of April 2021.

Malleny Angling would like to wish you all a very Happy Christmas and Tight Lines for 2018.

April and fishing seems a long way off, but its still a great to walk around the reservoirs on a frosty morning. Time to make plans, tie flies and think about the coming season.

A Frozen Threipmuir Reservoir

Sun rising over a frozen Threipmuir reservoir, Black Hill, East & West Kip and Hare Hill.

Bailiff Jim McComb ventured out of the bothy to get some snaps of this impressive rainbow (weather not fish). If anyone finds a pot of gold around there, it's mine I dropped it last week. ;)  Fishing for brownies is over for the year, but there is all the more time to think about next year's fly patterns! Lee Currie's beautifully tied Fiery Threipmuir Dabbler.

The prize draw winner for September is Mr Paul Kenny of Currie, permit number 21285. MAA member Sean Williams pulled the lucky permit from the hat on Wednesday 4th October. Not forgetting Duty bailiff Jim McComb who held the box.

Here's Balerno school boy 10 year old Lachlan with one of two Rainbows caught during a short session on Harlaw reservoir this weekend. Both fish fell to a Kate McKlaren fly. Lachlan said the fish were really hard fighting.

Paying permit holders can take one under 16 year old to fish with them for free. They even get there own 2 fish catch limit before having to fish catch and release! If you do take a junior fishing please ensure they have the correct tackle and follow the usual rules of the club. Novice casters should consider wearing hats and eye protection.
