Malleny Angling is fortunate to hold the fishing rights to approximately 1 mile of bank fishing at Harlaw reservoir and 1.5 miles of bank fishing at Threipmuir reservoir. Harlaw and Threipmuir reservoirs are both located in the beautiful Pentland Hills on the outskirts of Edinburgh, 1 mile south of Balerno village. Access to the reservoirs is via Harlaw Road in Balerno or via the Kirkgate in Currie. Free parking is available at Harlaw car park which is approximately 200 meters from the reservoir. The access to the Reservoirs is good and level, but the banks are steep and can be dangerous for wading particularly on Harlaw.

Open times

The fishing season for both waters starts on the 1st April each year and closes at Threipmuir on the 30th September and at Harlaw on the 31st October, fishing starts at 8am until 11pm or 1 hour after sunset, whichever comes first. Fishing is available all days including Sunday.

Fly fishing only.
